We’re Here To Serve

THERE IS A DISTINCTION BETWEEN HOMELESS & HOPELESS.

FOOD PANTRY

Greater Works has a client choice food pantry. Client’s choice means just that- that people in need get to choose what food they prefer based on what they need. We use a sliding income scale (based on a number of people in your household) to determine how much food is allowed. Then we let you shop. There are guidelines of how many meats, veggies, etc… but we leave the choice of what food up to you. This is of course based on what is currently available in our donated food offerings. More importantly, our volunteers are people who listen and assist you while treating you with the respect and care.

If you require assistance from our Food Pantry, please come prepared with picture identification, your social security number and proof of residence.  We operate on a sign-up basis on Sunday mornings, starting at 7:30am and Tuesday evenings, starting at 4:30; serving up to the first 25 individuals signed up. Once signed up, please remain in the designated waiting room for your name to be called.  Groceries are available to individuals/families through our Food Pantry once every 90 days.  We also offer other agency referrals and resources.

CLOTHING

Greater Works has a client choice clothing “store.” Client’s choice means just that- that people in need get to choose what outfits they prefer based on what they need. Then we let you shop. We offer anywhere from one to three outfits per (in home) family member depending on availability or other factors (i.e. COVID). There are guidelines who can shop (adults), when and making sure chosen clothing is size appropriate… but we leave the choice of what clothing you need to you. This is of course based on what is currently available in our donated clothing offerings. More importantly, our volunteers are people who listen and assist you while treating you with the respect and care.

If you require assistance from our clothing “store,” please come prepared with picture identification (if not previously provided). We operate on a sign-up basis on Sunday mornings, starting at 7:30am and Tuesday evenings, starting at 4:30; serving individuals on a first come, first served sign up basis only until the meal is being served. If you are already seeking groceries on any given morning/evening, you will need to come on a separate day to get clothing. Once signed up for clothing, please remain in the designated waiting area for your name to be called. Clothing is available to individuals/families through our clothing store once every sixty (60) days.  We also offer other agency referrals and resources if needed.

DAY CENTER

Monday through Thursday, from 10am to 2pm, we have our main meeting/dining room open to meet the needs of our local indigent community.  During this time, we provide laundry services for those wishing to wash a singular load of laundry (detergent is provided) as well as showers to our homeless (sundries are provided).  During this time, biscuits are provided in the morning and a lunch is provided at noon.  When available by donation, we can also offer pet food to those who have pets.  Some services may be curbed temporarily due to measures being undertaken to prevent the spread of coronavirus.  Please see Bobby or Kevin in our day center for what services are currently available the day you visit.
